What I collect
- When you send the form: your name, your business or club, your email address or phone number, your message, how you heard about me (if you say), the time, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address, kept with your message so I can spot repeat spam.
- When you email, call or message me on WhatsApp: what you send me.
- If someone introduces you to me: your name and contact details, from them. I use them only to get in touch about that introduction.
- If you become a client: your contact and billing details, the content for your site, and a record of what you’ve paid. Card payments go through Stripe, and I never see card numbers.
- When you visit this site: Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. Like any web host, Vercel also sees your internet address and browser details when it serves a page, and keeps them briefly in its logs for security.
If my database and my email both fail when you send the form, a copy of your message is kept in my host’s error log for a short time, so I can still reply.
Why I use it
- To reply to you, build your preview and send a quote, because you asked me to (steps before a contract).
- To build and look after your site, and to bill you for it (our contract).
- To keep business and tax records, because the law requires it (legal obligation).
- To keep the form safe from spam and see which pages get used (legitimate interests).
- If you write for a business or club, or someone introduces you, I reply because answering business enquiries is in my legitimate interests.
I never sell your details, and I don’t use them for marketing.
Who handles it for me
These companies handle data for me:
- Vercel hosts this website, keeps short-lived server logs, and counts visits with cookieless analytics.
- Turso stores the enquiries sent through the form.
- Resend delivers the form’s emails to my inbox.
- Telegram sends me a short alert when a form arrives: a reference number, a first name and the business name, never contact details.
- Stripe takes payments from clients. I never see card numbers.
- Hostinger holds the contact@seojack.net mailbox.
- Google (Gmail) holds the inbox the form’s emails go to.
My accountant and the tax authorities see client and payment records when the law requires it.
If you message me on WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own privacy policy covers that service. The phone alert I get from Telegram when a form arrives says only a reference number, your first name and your business name, never your email address or phone number.
Where it’s kept
Some of the companies above are in the US. Where your data leaves the UK, it’s protected by their standard data protection terms, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or by the UK–US data bridge. Telegram is based outside both, which is why its alerts carry so little.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries: 2 years, unless you become a client.
- Client and payment records: 6 years after our work together ends.
After that I delete them.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask me to correct or delete it, ask me to limit how I use it, object to how I use it, or ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email contact@seojack.net and I’ll reply within a month.
If you’re not happy with my answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab), or to the data protection authority where you live. In the US, you can also contact the Federal Trade Commission or your state attorney general.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. Vercel Web Analytics is cookieless: it counts visits without cookies and without following you around other sites. That’s why there’s no cookie banner. The fonts come from this site too, not from Google.
Changes to this notice
If I change this notice, I update the date below, and I tell clients by email about anything important. This site doesn’t track you across other sites, so it treats every visit the same whether or not your browser sends Do Not Track.
